My Approach
I use a warm, humorous, and person-centred approach to treatment. I believe that clients are the expert in their own lives and I adapt treatment for individual needs rather than using a "one size fits all" approach. My post-graduate training in Counselling Psychology emphasised the value of the therapeutic relationship and thus I believe a good fit between therapist and client is a necessity in the therapy room. I understand that my clients do not exist in a vacuum, and thus consider the impact of systemic issues within my work. I work using both evidence-based practice (what works in the research literature) and practice-based evidence (what works for the person in the therapy room).
I see people with a number of different presentations, including anxiety and mood disorders, OCD, personality disorders, eating disorders/difficulties and body image concerns, perfectionism, trauma (including complex trauma), and adjustment to chronic illness. I draw from a number of different frameworks, including CBT, ACT, DBT, and motivational interviewing. For those who are neurodiverse and/or part of the LGBTIQAP+ community, I aim to provide a safe environment and work from an affirming framework. Where indicated, I aim to include support people in session and work as part of a multidisciplinary team for best possible outcomes.

I have undertaken specific training in the treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns, and as such, am eligible to provide treatment under Eating Disorder Management Plans. I work with people experiencing anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, and those who may not fit precisely into a diagnostic category (e.g., OSFED, orthorexia). I frequently work with people who have overlapping concerns regarding their eating disorder and may need treatment adapted for their needs, including neurodiversity, chronic illness or disability, and complex trauma. I have also worked with individuals who may have been living with their eating disorder for extended periods of time (10+ years).
